| Welcome to Rafter Y Ranch in
Banner, Wyoming. Located on Little Piney Creek at the foot of the
magnificent Big Horn Mountains and Bighorn National Forest, the Rafter Y is one of the few
working ranches which accommodate a small number of guests. For over 70 years,
guests have come to enjoy beautiful open country and the same family's hospitality.
The ranch is in the very heart of the country so often mentioned in the tales of the
western author Owen Wister, a country rich in its history of frontier days and Indian
lore, historic sites, Fort Phil Kearny, the Wagon Box Fight,
and the Fetterman Fight are all close by. The Bozeman Trail passes the ranch, and
the Battle of the Little Big Horn, where Custer met his demise, took place just north, in
Montana.
Here, if you enjoy the fun of the outdoors, you may spend a happy, never to be
forgotten vacation. Riding is the main activity and we take great pride in helping
our guests become competent horsemen. Guided flyfishing trips are available, and
children can fish the creek or swimming hole. Guests also enjoy hiking, mountain
biking, and tennis on the ranch court.
The beautiful Big Horn Mountains and Bighorn National Forest
are just minutes away. Here you can see endless scenic vistas and many species of
wildlife. Wildlife in the area include Pronghorn antelope, mule deer, whitetailed
deer, moose, elk, wild turkeys and many upland game birds.
Pleasant sleeping accommodations for up to twenty in cabins
with running water, excellent meals served family style with fresh vegetables and eggs
from the ranch, all contribute to the comfort of our guests.
